Before coming into contact with hotels with more than 50,000 square meters, ZPD Space Design only designed routine projects. Deeply cultivating the theory of luxury house design

From the whole to the details, designed for users

For him, the underlying logic of luxury house design also needs to go from the overall situation to the details, and then build a comprehensive "residential system". Therefore, based on the daily and interactive nature of the house, Zheng Junhua divides the "residential system" into multiple systems such as home system, living system, storage system, outdoor system, logistics system, security system and entertainment system. "When the house is peeled off and layered like an onion, the designer can quickly find a "grasp" in the early stage of design, that is, according to the needs of different occupants, the functions inside the area can be added or deleted accordingly. ' Paul Zheng explained to us.

For example, in the case of Vanke Baisha Runyuan Mansion, facing the five-story single-family villa space, the biggest challenge was how to bring convective ventilation and sufficient lighting to the two-story underground space. In order to solve this problem, ZPD Space Design deduces the overall space design based on the details of life, and builds the interaction and inner connection between the user and the space. In the end, Paul Zheng placed sunken courtyards on both sides of the building to the negative second floor and opened them up inside, creating a "breathing house", forming a leisure field where wind and light can travel freely.

"Besides, the practicality of luxury house design is another key consideration for me." Paul Zheng further explained his design thinking to us. In his view, the specific meaning given to users by elements such as user experience, living needs, and functional details is the key to the design of living space.

"Sometimes we apply the details of hotel guests to the living space, such as the detachable bed design, which meets the dual needs of separate beds and joint beds between couples; at the same time, we also set up a Mini bar in the bedroom to solve the problem. It eliminates the inconvenience of drinking water in our daily lives. These ingenious innovations are based on pragmatism to define and create a comfortable living space.”

In Paul Zheng's view, when entering the design state, good designers also need to act as space experiencers and maintainers. They should not only combine design creativity, user experience, and customer demands, but also rationally analyze the structural form of the building interior itself. , cultural background, local materials, and fully respect the regional culture and traditional craftsmanship, and integrate them into the spatial narrative through aesthetics and design.
